The Election Commission of India has published the final voter list for West Bengal, based on the census data of January 1, 2025. A total of 7 lakh voters have been removed from the list for various reasons. Of these, 4 lakh voter cards have been deactivated due to the death of the individuals, while 3 lakh names were removed as the voters had moved to other states. Additionally, over 9,000 cases of double registration, where voters were listed in multiple locations, have been excluded from the list.
In contrast, 10.78 lakh new voters have been added to the final voter list, contributing to a total of 7,63,96,165 registered voters in the state. This marks an overall increase of 3,81,449 voters. Of this increase, 1,79,740 are male voters, and 2,01,684 are female voters, reflecting the efforts to ensure that all eligible individuals are included in the electoral process.
The list has been prepared to maintain accuracy, with the aim of improving the integrity of the electoral process. Voter cards of individuals whose names have been removed or deactivated have been declared invalid. The final voter list for the state reflects the ongoing efforts to clean up and update voter data to ensure a more streamlined election process.
